Abdukodir Khusanov: Manchester City’s £33.5m bid for defender accepted by Lens after Omar Marmoush deal agreed in principle | Football News

Lens have accepted Manchester City’s offer for Abdukodir Khusanov.

An agreement between the clubs has been reached at £33.5m (€40m) plus bonuses.

Uzbekistan international centre-back Khusanov, 20, is set to sign a four-and-a-half-year contract which also contains the option of a further year until June 2030.

The news comes after Omar Marmoush agreed in principle a move to City from Eintracht Frankfurt, pending an agreement between the clubs.

The German club are demanding around £67m (€80m) for the 25-year-old Egypt international and negotiations are expected to start shortly.

An opening offer could come as early as this weekend. Marmoush wants the move because he knows he is currently City boss Pep Guardiola’s first-choice target.

There is no release clause for the forward and offers significantly below the previously noted figure are expected to be rejected by the Bundesliga club, who are third in the German top flight.

City and Marmoush’s camp consider a transfer fee of £42m- £50m (€50-€60m) to be more realistic.

Marmoush, who can operate in any position across the front three, has scored 13 goals in the Bundesliga so far this season with only Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane scoring more.

Marmoush stats

He has netted 18 goals in all competitions this campaign and is second only behind his international team-mate, Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah for goal involvements across the top five European leagues this season.

South American football expert Tim Vickery says Reis is not ‘anywhere near Premier League ready’

South American football expert Tim Vickery speaking to Sky Sports News’ Transfer Talk about Vitor Reis:

“Palmeiras are in the Club World Cup and they very much want to keep hold of this centre-back, who turns 19 next week.

“I don’t think he’s anywhere near Premier League ready at the moment. He’s classy but he needs to fill out physically.

“Palmeiras have been producing a lot of good players recently – most of them attackers.

“If you were to put him in the Premier League at the moment, he would really be bullied. So, perhaps it serves everyone’s interests for him to stay a little bit longer in Brazilian football.

“But Palmeiras, are reluctant to sell before that Club World Cup.”
