SAG Awards 2025: Jack Quaid Admits Why He Doesn’t Run Lines With Parents Meg Ryan & Dennis Quaid

Zooey Deschanel’s kids are taking some big inspiration from their mom.

As the New Girl alum walked the red carpet of the 2025 Screen Actors Guild Awards Feb. 23 alongside her fiancé Jonathan Scott, she shared that her daughter Elsie, 9, and son Charlie, 7—with ex-husband Jacob Pechenik—have been exploring new passions and dabbling in her area of expertise. (See all the stars on the SAG Awards red carpet here.)

“They’re really into making little movies,” Zooey exclusively told E! News correspondent Will Marfuggi at Los Angeles’ Shrine Auditorium. “They love movies. We watched The Maltese Falcon with them the other day, and they were totally into it.”

While both of her kids were able to appreciate the 1941 noir film, it seems the Elf actress’ youngest took a particular interest in honoring the classics.

“They love black and white films,” she continued. “Our 7-year-old watches Godzilla movies in Japanese and he’ll cry if it’s dubbed into English.”
