The Most Shocking Grammys Moments of All Time

It’s time for music’s biggest night.

And while the Grammys—hosted by Trevor Noah for the fifth consecutive time—hands out its awards annually, there is nothing routine about the ceremony. After all, it’s home to plenty of shocking, off-the-cuff moments. So, it wouldn’t be a surprise if the Feb. 2 ceremony—which sees stars like Chappell Roan, Taylor Swift and Beyoncé among the nominees—will see another buzzed-about performance, speech or look.

Indeed, it was at the 2000 Grammys where Jennifer Lopez debuted her plunging, jungle-print Versace gown—which led to Google Images. And it’s been eight years since Beyoncé—who, as the winningest artist of all time, leads the pack this year with 11 nominations for her country album Cowboy Carter—performed tracks from her Lemonade album while heavily pregnant with her twins Rumi and Sir.

One of the night’s second most-nominated artists, Charli XCX—who revealed in December that she has sustained nerve damage in her neck because of her intense performances on stage—is certainly a contender for a shocking moment, as she’s up for eight awards and is set to perform on the main stage.
