New details about Rolling Ray’s death have emerged.

One month after the social media star—who amassed an internet following after appearances on Catfish: Trolls and Divorce Court—died at age 28, his family confirmed to The Washington Post that he passed away due to natural causes.

Ray’s death was reported Sept. 3, two days shy of his 29th birthday, a spokesperson for Maryland’s Office of the Chief Medical Examiner confirmed to People at the time. His relatives also shared their grief in the wake of his loss.

“I am sitting in my room with tears rolling down my cheeks,” Ray’s cousin, known as Coolest Kishia, wrote on Facebook following his death, adding a series of broken heart emojis. “I am so heart broken. I don’t have words for this right know u are my favorite cousinnnnwhy u dogged me like this.”

Ray (real name Raymond Harper) was diagnosed with spinal muscular atrophy at 15 months old, leading him to be wheelchair-bound at age 10, according to with The Washington Post. But in spite of the influencer’s physical setback, his longevity proved to be a medical miracle.
