Former DFL House Speaker Melissa Hortman’s name could be associated with solar gardens, a state highway and a state building under legislation state lawmakers are considering this session, reports MPR News.

An internal investigation is under way after video from a protest Sunday outside the Whipple Federal Building showed a Hennepin County Sheriff’s deputy slamming a protester’s head to the ground, reports Bring Me The News.

Meanwhile, the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office is asking for photo and video evidence of mistreatment by ICE officials, saying there are at least 17 incidents in which it appears agents broke laws, reports the Minnesota Reformer.

ICE agents are accused of sending a Minnesota man hospitalized for mental health to Texas even after his attorney and hospital staff said it would cause further harm, reports Sahan Journal.

Gov. Tim Walz wants to know how many ICE agents remain in Minnesota and sent a letter to Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem on Monday asking for weekly updates, reports WCCO-TV.

An eighth-grader from Dakota Middle School in Rochester is on her way to the Scripps National Spelling Bee, reports the Rochester Post-Bulletin.
