Minnesota bills on kid social media rules, inspector general move

The tied Minnesota House is moving forward with a bill to create an inspector general’s office to address fraud, reports the St. Paul Pioneer Press. There are still many details to work out with the DFL-controlled Senate, however.

Legislation that would put limits on certain features when children under 15 use social media has advanced in the Minnesota House with bipartisan support, reports WCCO-TV. “We have the power to enforce consumer protections used by Minnesotans, especially for kids,” said bill author Rep. Peggy Scott, R-Andover.

The Minneapolis City Council has voted to delay a vote on funds related to a new public safety training facility, Bring Me The News reports.

One of the people charged in the St. Paul church protest in January explained to North News why he showed up for a recent court hearing in his underwear. “They didn’t take the decency to give me a moment to grab my pants,” English teacher Drew Edwards said of his arrest. “You’re not going to dehumanize me; you don’t get my dignity. I wanted the judge to see what they did.”
