Kobbie Mainoo has no concerns over his Manchester United future, Sky Sports News understands, amid reports the club may need to cash in on academy players to comply with financial rules.

The 19-year-old has felt valued by United, who have made it clear they are not actively seeking to sell the midfielder nor Alejandro Garnacho, despite needing to be realistic over their PSR and FFP situation.

United have been preparing a new contract for Mainoo, former manager Erik ten Hag told Sky Sports News in September there would be talks with the club’s leadership team over rewarding the England international.

His current deal runs to 2027 with the option of an extra year, which includes in-built pay rises linked to performance.

The summer recruitment of Manuel Ugarte was centred around finding a good foil for Mainoo, and the pair have shown shoots of a promising partnership.

Garnacho, meanwhile, is contracted until 2028.

United have to sell to buy to equip Ruben Amorim with a squad capable of effectively enacting his philosophy, and the focus is on shifting players that do not have a long-term future at Old Trafford.
