Grimes is putting her tattooed face forward.
The “Genesis” singer (real name Claire Boucher) revealed that she got inked on her face “a few months ago and literally nobody noticed,” sharing a makeup-free photo of herself with a large circle encompassing her left eye.
“Idky this face tattoo is imperceptible,” she wrote on X (formerly Twitter) Oct. 22, “but just for the record it’s my fave tat.”
But Grimes—who shares kids X Æ A-Xii, 4, Exa Dark Sideræl, 3, and Techno “Tau” Mechanicus, 3, with ex Elon Musk—didn’t go under the needle on a whim. As she further explained on Instagram, “Spent like ten years emotionally working up to a face tattoo but I guess I drew on my face too much and literally no one noticed, not even my parents.”
Calling the cybersigilism design, which blends ancient symbolism with cyberpunk aesthetics, “genius level work,”she gave credit to her tattoo artist, writing, “I think @glyphomancer is onto something truly novel and innovative with her work esp on face tats.”
