During a terrifying situation, Anjelica Huston received an unexpected call from a special person from her past.

The Addams Family alum says her former partner of 17 years, Jack Nicholson, reached out to her as she was fleeing a wildfire that erupted not far from her Los Angeles home.

“I was in a car with three dogs, two cats, and the housekeeper,” Huston told The Guardian in an interview published Feb. 21, “and he called and asked if I was all right, and if I had someplace I was staying.”

The 73-year-old continued, “That’s the bottom line with he and I—when the chips are down, he’s there.”

Huston’s home did not suffer damage from the Palisades Fire that erupted Jan. 7 and destroyed more than 6,500 structures, including several houses located just two streets away from hers, according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.

“My house almost burned down. It came very, very close,” Huston said, adding that she has since moved into her other residence, a ranch.
