Viola Davis doesn’t need any help ushering in this new chapter.
Days after the Woman King star debuted a show-stopping red hair transformation during her birthday getaway, she reflected on turning 60 years old.
“I feel free,” Viola told E! News on the Television Academy’s 27th Annual Hall of Fame Ceremony’s red carpet Aug. 16. “Before, I was fighting and struggling with identity, labels, what I should be, what I should be doing.”
“Now, I just let it all go,” she continued. “I had an ‘Aha!’ moment, which is, I’m just supposed to be here in the now and I did good.”
As for how the Oscar winner—who was inducted into the TV Hall of Fame—rang in her 60th birthday? She teased, “Lots of margaritas and piña coladas.”
She and husband Julius Tennon also played “beautiful games” with conversation prompts that led to sweet and emotional reflections. In summation, she added, “It was a deep and fun birthday.” (For more with Viola and other TV Hall of Fame inductees, tune into E! News tonight, Aug 18, at 11 p.m.)
