JP McManus’ Aworkinprogress goes for the four-timer in this afternoon’s feature at Lingfield – one of 15 contests live on Sky Sports Racing today.

2.55 Lingfield – Aworkinprogress seeks four-timer

Very much to his namesake Aworkinprogress has come on with every run for Nick Gifford in the colours of JP McManus. He remained unbeaten over fences last time out at Lingfield despite making hard work of it, so has only gone up 5lbs for that win. James Davies retains the ride for this Download The At The Races App Handicap Chase, and gets on well with him.

Are U Wise To That shaded his form of old when finishing second at Wetherby behind Rockinastorm and remains on the same mark today, with Jonjo O’Neill Jr taking up the ride for this drop down in trip. His Cheltenham form from last year looks solid and rates a challenger in this competitive heat. Madaket looks to be an interesting rival, making his chasing debut for the Philip Hobbs and Johnson White team. He has run creditably this season and looks sure to go well if taking to fences today.

2.25 Lingfield – Dotties Star, Peacenik and Pleasington clash

Dotties Star is not averse to upsetting the odds having turned over a 2-7 favourite last time out and looks to defy the penalty today for Pat Phelan. Peacenik has been highly tried for Katy Price having ran in the Rossington Main up at Haydock last time. He ran creditably that day and has solid form in the book and could be a main protagonist today after that excellent run.

Pleasington got his head in the winners’ enclosure at Leicester last time out when relishing the heavy ground. He had been disappointed in his earlier two starts and could have looked to be a disappointment for the price tag. However, he did it well despite a few jumping errors and could progress again in this Best Odds Guaranteed @greatbet.co.uk Novices’ Hurdle with Sean Bowen in the plate.

8.30 Wolverhampton – Wonder and Alpine Oasis lock horns in Class 4

James Fanshawe trained Wonder has been well touted since his days behind Ghostwriter on debut and has flattered to deceive a little. He significantly stepped up in trip at Wolverhampton last time and in a slowly run race when held up it clearly didn’t suit him. He remains on the same mark for this Gamble Responsibly At BetUK Handicap and the drop down two furlongs should help him.

The Tony Bloom-owned Alpine Oasis disappointed in a decent race last time when possibly settling to quicker fractions on the front end. This filly is still lightly raced and could progress even more if allowed an easy lead on the front end.

Sax Appeal was a surprise winner at Wolverhampton last time when winning at 11-1. The Charlie Johnston trains the five-year-old who goes for his fourth win.

Best of the rest

The out-of-sorts Gary and Josh Moore training duo field Johnny Jump Up in the Sky Sports Racing Virgin 535 Handicap Chase at Lingfield. Niall Houlihan’s mount was going well before unseating the rider at Warwick last month and could challenge Pilsdon Den at 4.02pm.

My Friend Sean chases the hat-trick in the closing Play At The Races Stableduel Conditional Jockeys’ Training Series Handicap Hurdle, but will be wary of the threat posed by Olly Murphy’s Double Oban.

At Wolverhampton, a few familiar faces go to post for the Weekly £5 Free Bet With BetUK Handicap at 6.00pm, namely Starshiba, Fools Rush In and City Cyclone. Half an hour later, last-time-out winners Kitty Foyle and Path To Dubai clash in the BetUK. It’s Where The UK Bets Handicap.
