England and South Africa are through to the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup, with two places in the knockout stage still up for grabs.

India and West Indies are the sides in contention to advance from Super 8s Group 1, while the second spot in Group 2, after England, will be filled by either New Zealand or Pakistan.

Here is the state of play will all teams having one match left to play…

Group 1

South Africa, India, West Indies, Zimbabwe

T20 World Cup Super 8s – Group 1

Team Games played Net run-rate Points
South Africa (qualified) 2 +2.890 4
West Indies 2 +1.791 2
India 2 −0.100 2
Zimbabwe (eliminated) 2 −4.475 0

South Africa are into the semi-finals after victories over India and West Indies, with the Proteas now hoping to extend their 100 per cent record by beating Zimbabwe in their final Super 8s fixture in Delhi on Sunday (9.30am UK).

India and West Indies are level on two points after both lost to South Africa and beat Zimbabwe, meaning the winner of Sunday’s game between the sides in Kolkata (1.30pm UK) will progress to the semi-finals.

West Indies are currently above India on net run rate so will advance at the opponents’ expense if their weekend fixture is rained off.

Zimbabwe are eliminated after two defeats from two.

Remaining fixtures: South Africa vs Zimbabwe; India vs West Indies (both Sunday March 1).

Group 2

England, New Zealand, Pakistan, Sri Lanka

T20 World Cup Super 8s – Group 2

Team Games played Net run-rate Points
England (qualified) 2 +1.491 4
New Zealand 2 +3.050 3
Pakistan 2 −0.461 1
Sri Lanka (eliminated) 2 −2.800 0

England have secured a knockout place after defeating Sri Lanka and Pakistan so far and will top the group unless they lose to New Zealand in Colombo on Friday (1.30pm UK).

New Zealand will progress if they beat England or if that game is rained off as in those scenarios Pakistan would be unable to match their points tally.

If New Zealand lose to England and stay on three points, Pakistan could qualify ahead of them if they then beat Sri Lanka in the final Group 2 game in Pallekele on Saturday (1.30pm UK).

However, Pakistan have an inferior net run rate to New Zealand at the moment (-0.461 compared to the Black Caps’ +3.050) so would need to win handsomely.

The swing required equates to approximately 70 runs, so New Zealand would need to lose to England by 35 runs and Pakistan beat Sri Lanka by 35 runs for them to be in the ballpark.

New Zealand’s Super 8s game against Pakistan was rained off, with the sides taking a point each from that contest.

Sri Lanka are out after losses to England and New Zealand.

Remaining fixtures: England vs New Zealand (Friday February 27); Pakistan vs Sri Lanka (Saturday February 28).
