NFL: Tyreek Hill indicates he wants out of the Miami Dolphins after failure to make playoffs | NFL News

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill indicated he wants to leave the franchise after they failed to reach the NFL playoffs.

Hill did not play in the final quarter of the 32-20 defeat to the New York Jets in the final weekend of the regular season.

The 30-year-old has missed out on the postseason for the first time in his career and told reporters: “For me, I just have to do what’s best for me and my family.

“If that’s here or wherever the case may be. I’m about to open up that door for myself … I’m out. It was great playing here but at the end of the day, I have to do what’s best for my career.

“I’m too much of a competitor to just be out there.”

Hill still has two years remaining on the extension he originally signed in 2022.

The Georgia-born player recorded the worst season of his Dolphins spell in 2024, ending up with 959 yards and six touchdowns.

Against the Jets, he registered only two catches, his third game of the season with two or fewer catches.

This disappointing campaign is in stark contrast to his first two with the team, when he secured at least 1,700 yards and 119 catches in 2022 and 2023.

Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel said after the Jets game that Hill’s absence was not injury-related, while adding that he did not want to discuss his player’s comments until he had spoken to him.

“It would be unfair for me to match emotion with emotion,” said McDaniel.

“Right after a game when your season ends, when you are fighting for it to extend and with the full belief that you have the ability for that to happen, I’m not going to make a rash judgment on something that is a little cloudy in the heat of the moment for multiple reasons.”
