Hayden Panettiere and Connie Britton didn’t exactly start off on the right note.
The Nashville alums—who played rising star Juliette Barnes and country queen Rayna James, respectively, on the CMT drama—had a particularly uncomfortable time filming their first scene together, which Hayden recalled left her feeling terrible.
“I remember the first scene that I ever did with her,” the 36-year-old shared during an interview with Entertainment Weekly published Sept. 15. “It was in [Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium], the backstage of the Ryman, and Rayna comes in and says something nice to me, and I am just so passive aggressive to her.”
Hayden—who shares 10-year-old daughter Kaya Evdokia Klitschko with ex WladimirKlitschko—said she kept apologizing to the Friday Night Lights star following the scene.
“That was our first experience together and I didn’t want to step on toes,” she added. “Sometimes it gets real, very real, you know?”
Hayden also explained that Nashville, which ran from 2012 to 2018, was originally supposed to be a solo vehicle for Connie’s Rayna. However, when producers saw the reaction to her character Juliette, it was changed to be about the competition between the two country singers.
