So why not add another guest to the party?
For years, Kotb has bandied about the idea of adopting again, revealing that the process got delayed a bit during the coronavirus pandemic. Still, “I have not closed the door,” she said while appearing on The Jamie Kern Lima Show in August 2024. “I get signs. I have held on to all of our baby stuff, all of it, because here’s the truth about life: I keep meeting people who remind you that your heart’s ability to expand is beyond measure.”
And now that she’s stepping back from Today, because, as she put it, “my daughters and my mom need and deserve a bigger slice of my time pie,” there’s no time like the present.
The decision to expand her family was relatively easy, she shared with DeGeneres back in 2020.
“I was scribbling in my journal and I was asking myself that question,” she explained. “And I wrote in there, ‘I’m wondering if we should.’ And then I wrote, ‘Do we have enough love?’ and I wrote, ‘Yes.’ And I said, ‘Do we have enough time?’ And I wrote, ‘Yes.’ And I said, ‘Would our family be more enhanced?’ I wrote, ‘Yes.’ So, I was thinking maybe the answer is yes.”
