Trixie Mattel is sharing some sad news.
The RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars winner and her longtime partner, David Silver, have broken up after 8 years of dating, Trixie announced Dec. 30.
“It’s not my favorite thing to bring up, but some of you have kind of figured it out and speculated for awhile,” she shared in a video posted on YouTube. “David and I separated quite some time ago now.”
The drag star noted that her inner circle was aware of the split “for quite some time” and that the breakup wasn’t “salacious,” but she wavered on when—and how—to share the news publicly, having documented parts of their relationship on her reality shows including Trixie Motel.
“It feels like a million years ago now,” she continued, “but it was hard for me because welcoming everybody into my personal life, I got the privilege of making shows and stuff and telling you guys a really compelling love story in my life. And it felt disappointing to not be able to make good on that. Feels like telling you guys there’s no Santa Claus.”
