Don’t let a childish drawing of a cat fool you! There is a challenging geometry puzzle hidden inside this simple-seeming picture. Can you solve it?

There’s a little kid who lives inside of each one of us who would love nothing more than to run outside with a handful of colorful chalk pastels and go to town drawing on the sidewalk to their heart’s content. Take a look at what we’ve drawn for you today: a rather rudimentary cat composed entirely out of triangles.

But how many triangles are there hidden inside of this geometric feline? Shapes can be deceptive. And this simple-seeming cat might not be so simple after all. Can you find all of the triangles? How many are there? Test yourself and find out!

Take a look at the cat drawing below:

Take a moment and scour the drawing thoroughly to pick out every triangle, as some are well hidden. You don’t want to miss even one, or that will bungle a potential perfect score. Then, when you think you have found them all, or if you’re ready to throw in the towel, scroll down below to see the final answer.

You may be surprised to learn that there are 32 triangles hidden inside this cat drawing!

Did you manage to find them all? If so, congratulations! That certainly was not as simple as it seemed! If not, then feel free to take a look below to see where they all are; you may have overlooked something unexpectedly simple.

As you can see, there are large triangles, medium-sized triangles, small triangles, and most importantly, triangles hidden inside triangles. Particularly tricky were the mouth and nose areas, where three separate triangles were hidden, and the tail, where several elongated triangles overlapped and intersected in a rather sly manner. Take a closer look, if need be, and see where you went wrong.

We hope you found this simple cat puzzle to be an enjoyable break during your busy day, or perhaps some needed stimulation during a slow day at home. Perhaps it’s inspired you to run outside and bask on a sidewalk somewhere, in the sun, with some chalk, to see what childish pictures you can dream up!

Don’t forget to share this puzzle with a friend to put their shape-finding skills to the test!
