Aaron Rodgers‘ time with the New York Jets has reached its end zone.

The quarterback will not return to the NFL team next season, the franchise confirmed Feb. 13.

“Last week we met with Aaron and shared that our intention was to move in a different direction at quarterback,” Jets Head Coach Aaron Glenn and General Manager Darren Mougey in a statement. “It was important to have this discussion now to provide clarity and enable each of us the proper time to plan for our respective futures.”

The two thanked the 41-year-old “for the leadership, passion, and dedication he brought to the organization and wish him success moving forward.”

The four-time NFL MVP, who moved to the Jets after 18 seasons and one Super Bowl win with the Green Bay Packers, as not commented on the news.

However, his time with the New York team was full of ups and downs. Rodgers suffered a torn Achilles tendon in his first game with the Jets in September 2023 just after signing a two-year, $75 million deal to play for the team.
