There is a full Scottish Premiership card to look forward to this weekend – here’s what to look out for at both ends of the table…

Celtic return to Scottish Premiership action after their League Cup triumph and it is a first for Brendan Rodgers who has never faced Dundee United.

If the Hoops continue their unbeaten run they will make it their best-ever start to a league season – victory would also secure their best away run, which stands at 12 wins on the road in 2017.

Jim Goodwin’s side have impressed on their top-flight return and if they manage to pull off a shock and beat the Scottish champions for the first time since 2014 they could move as high as fourth.

Will Rangers bounce back from final disappointment?

Philippe Clement’s side will determined to pick up a vital Premiership win after their League Cup defeat to Celtic, where their disappointment was compounded by the admission they should have had a penalty.

Depending on the result at Aberdeen, a win against Dundee could lift Rangers up to second in the table ahead of a hectic festive schedule.

Tony Docherty’s side have only managed one away win the the league this season and have not won at Ibrox since back in 2001.

A bug swept through the Dundee squad earlier this week but the manager is hopeful most of his players will be available for Saturday’s game.

Watch highlights from the thrilling Scottish Premiership match between Hibernian and Aberdeen

After their blistering start to the season, Aberdeen are without a win in their last five Premiership games and they could lose their place in second if that does not change on Saturday.

While the Dons have struggled of late, it was Hibs’ thrilling comeback for a 3-3 draw with Jimmy Thelin’s side that appears to have kick-started their season.

They have secured wins either side of a defeat at Celtic and are out of the relegation danger zone.

Aberdeen have only won one of their last seven league meetings with the Hibees – a 4-0 away win in May last season.

What else is there to look out for?

Can Hearts move off the bottom of the Premiership?

There is a bottom-of-the-table battle at Tynecastle as Hearts return from Conference League action to take on St Johnstone.

Victory for Neil Critchley’s side would lift them off the foot of the table and send their opponents below them.

Motherwell are looking to make it three straight wins when they host Kilmarnock on Fright night.
