Selena Gomez unknowingly manifested her own vision of ecstasy.
Indeed, the Rare Beauty founder detailed how Rihanna’s iconic 2012 hit “Diamonds”—which her husband Benny Blanco co-produced—inspired her AirDrop code.
“I’m gonna change it after this, but I will give it up,” Selena teased during her Mar. 4 appearance on her spouse’s Friends Keep Secrets podcast, revealing her name when she AirDrops messages “was ‘Shine bright.’ “That’s it. The only reason why is because every song has that tick, and it was, ‘Shine bright like a diamond.’”
In fact, the In fact, the “Calm Down” singer noted she used this name before she knew that she and Benny, 37, would fall in love—specifically, years before they collaborated on her 2015 Revival singles “Same Old Love” and “Kill ‘Em With Kindness.” The couple also joined forces again on 2019’s “I Can’t Get Enough,” four years before they hard-launched their romance on Instagram.
While Selena will always adore the connection she and the producer—who got married last September—have to “Diamonds,” she’s also obsessed with other songs in Rihanna’s catalogue that don’t involve her husband.
