Emilie Kiser on Emotional Struggles After Son Trigg’s Death

Emilie Kiser isn’t sugar coating her emotions.

Five months after her and husband Brady Kiser’s son Trigg Kiser died following an accidental drowning in their family’s pool, the TikTok influencer shared how she’s dealing with her complex range of feelings in the wake of the tragedy.

“I just got out of a 2 hour long counseling session (longest I have ever done) and it was heavy but also so helpful,” she wrote in a post on her Instagram Stories Oct. 24. “We talked about so many things, but one of them being overall emotions and the guilt of sometimes having them.”

The 26-year-old—who also shares son Theodore Kiser, 6 months, with Brady—explained that she found it particularly challenging to allow herself to feel positive emotions amid her grief.

“One of the hardest parts of loss, other than the loss itself, is allowing yourself to feel happy again,” she continued. “Allowing yourself to not have an emotion about every emotion. Just having that emotion whether it’s sad, happy, angry, guilty, shame, hurt, and really sitting with it and being okay with it.”
