Ryan Seacrest Rule After Derek Hough on Celebrity Wheel of Fortune

DWTS’ Derek Hough May Have Accidentally Revealed Sex of First Baby With Hayley Erbert

Ryan Seacrest can buy a vowel, but not a new wheel.

The American Idol host—who began his Wheel of Fortune hosting duties last year—has now also taken over Pat Sajak’s Celebrity Wheel of Fortune gig, where he recently welcomed Dancing With the Stars judges Derek Hough and Bruno Tonioli as guests. However, one particular moment from the pair’s visit ended up spurring a new decorum rule for contestants on the game show.

“In the commercial break, [Derek] was jumping on the center of the wheel and having Bruno spin it, much like the top of a cake ornament,” Ryan told USA Today in a joint interview with Vanna White published Oct. 17. “We did say, ‘Please don’t do that. That would break it, and there’s only one of those wheels.’”

The 50-year-old added, “If that breaks, we have a real problem.’”

Instead, he asked Derek to stand on the contestants’ podium, which is allowed, noting, “We had to sort of say, ‘Stick to the ledge.'”

Despite the mishap, Ryan enjoyed having the Dancing With the Stars personalities on set for the Sept. 29 episode.
