The comedy community is grieving the loss of one of their own.
Reggie Carroll, who performed stand-up routines in comedy clubs across the country, died after being involved in a shooting in northern Mississippi on Aug. 20, the Southaven Police Department confirmed. He was 52.
“Southaven officers located one male victim suffering from gunshot wounds,” authorities wrote on Facebook Aug. 23. “The officers and medical personnel provided life saving techniques but the individual succumbed to his injuries.”
According to the police department, the investigation is ongoing and the incident was believed to be an isolated shooting.
“One male is in custody and has been charged with the murder of Reginald Carroll,” the statement continued. “Thank you to the community for their patience and understanding.”
After the tragic news broke, Club Mobtown Comedy paid tribute to the beloved Maryland resident, who also made a number of television appearances including the 2023 standup special Knockout King of Comedy and the 2022 movie Rent & Go.
