Andy Byron is stepping down.
The Astronomer CEO resigned from his position after two people believed to be him and another member of his company’s staff were involved in a viral moment at a recent Coldplay concert that led to allegations he was having an affair.
“Andy Byron has tendered his resignation, and the Board of Directors has accepted,” the company wrote in a July 19 statement to E! News, adding that the former CEO has failed to meet the company’s standards of conduct. “The Board will begin a search for our next Chief Executive as Cofounder and Chief Product Officer Pete DeJoy continues to serve as interim CEO.”
After all, speculation that the clip—which shows a man and a woman hiding from the camera after they were featured holding each other on the venue’s jumbotron—was evidence of an alleged cheating scandal between him and his fellow Astronomer employee ran rampant on social media.
Three days after the July 16 concert in Foxborough, Massachusetts, Astronomer released another statement on behalf of the company announcing that its board of directors had launched “a formal investigation into this matter” and would have “additional details to share very shortly.”
