“I think we heard it in an interview we did once on a podcast where someone said, ‘The human heart was never meant for this many voices that we hear every single day on social media and news,'” Shawn noted. “And I think in times of insecurity like that, you just have to quiet it and go to the source—call someone, go to coffee.”
Continued the mom to Drew, 5, Jett, 3, and Bear, 14 months, “Nastia and I could have benefited from that, because we both missed each other so much, and we were letting other voices speak to us. So when we finally quieted that and sat down, it was like we never left.”
At the time, continued the Iowa native, she was busily planning her and Andrew’s 2016 vows near their home in Tennessee.
“And I said, ‘I know this is short notice, but I can’t imagine my wedding without you there,'” Shawn recounted. “She made it and it was the greatest thing ever.”
