Sarah Michelle Gellar Reveals if She’s Returning for ‘I Know What You Did Last Summer’ Reboot
Sarah Michelle Gellar is back to slay another day.
More than 20 years after Buffy the Vampire Slayer concluded its run, the actress is in final negotiations to reprise her iconic role as Buffy Summers in a revival of the hit series, according to multiple outlets.
The new TV show is being called “The next chapter in the Buffyverse,” per Us Weekly.
The first episode of the sequel series, which will soon be in the works at Hulu, is set to be directed by Oscar winner Chloe Zhao, while original Buffy creator Joss Whedon will reportedly not be involved in the project following misconduct allegations that surfaced in 2021, per the outlets. (Whedon declined E! News’ request for comment at the time.)
E! News has reached out to Hulu as well as a rep for Whedon for comment but has not heard back.
One day before the news broke, Sarah, 47, seemingly hinted at the reboot without saying much at all. In a reference to the teen drama, which aired from 1997 to 2003, she posted a photo on Instagram Feb. 2 wearing a pair of “yummy sushi pajamas” identical to the ones she wore in a season four episode of the series, captioning the image with nothing more than a sushi emoji.
