Two nine-darters and Luke Littler’s impressive tournament helped The BIGGER 180 charity campaign raise over £1m for Prostate Cancer UK at the Paddy Power World Darts Championship.

Paddy Power again supported Prostate Cancer UK with their charity activity at the World Darts Championship, held from December 15-January 3 at London’s Alexandra Palace and live on Sky Sports, with The BIGGER 180 proving a big success.

£1,000 was pledged by the bookmaking firm per 180 hit during the tournament, with 907 maximums achieved across the 16 days of play and a running total shown during Sky Sports’ live coverage.

Littler fired more 180s than any other player on his way to a maiden World Darts Championship title, producing 76 across the tournament, 20 more than closest challenger Michael van Gerwen.

Olympic cycling legend Sir Chris Hoy was an ambassador for The BIGGER 180, presenting the Sid Waddell Trophy as well as the Ballon d’Art trophy to Littler following Friday’s final.

A £60,000 bonus was paid for every nine-darter achieved in the event, with both Christian Kist and Damon Heta landing a perfect leg to trigger an additional £120,000 donation, leaving The BIGGER 180 campaign seeing £1,027,000 donated to Prostate Cancer UK.

Kist’s nine-darter was the first since the famous “I can’t speak” perfect leg from Michael Smith in the 2023 final, although the Dutchman went on to lose his first-round match 3-1 against Madars Razma.

Heta’s perfect leg came in his 4-3 loss to Luke Woodhouse, with both players earning themselves £60,000 as well as £60,000 going to a lucky fan in the crowd.

Over 160,000 people used Prostate Cancer UK’s online risk-checker during the tournament, taking the 30-second questionnaire which can quickly highlight the risk of being among the one in eight men who will get prostate cancer – the most common cancer in men.

Funds raised from The BIGGER 180 campaign during the Paddy Power World Darts Championship supported Prostate Cancer UK’s ground-breaking TRANSFORM screening trial, aiming to find the best way to diagnose the disease early – and pave the way for a national screening programme.
