Lingfield gets the New Year’s Eve party going with the Listed Quebec Stakes, plus jumping action from Uttoxeter, all live on Sky Sports Racing.

1.44 Lingfield – Last year’s winner Tyrrhenian Sea faces Royal Champion

Roger Varian’s Tyrrhenian Sea was successful in the Listed BetUK Quebec Stakes (1.44) 12 months ago and is only rated 1lb higher now.

He ran a cracker in the Churchill Stakes at Newcastle last month – the same race he used as a prep last year – behind The Foxes following a 266-day lay-off and is sure to go close with Jack Mitchell back in the saddle.

Royal Champion was a Wolferton Stakes winner in 2023 when trained by Varian and has since had a stint in Australia, finishing a credible second in the Crystal Mile, and is now with the excellent Karl Burke. He could take all the beating if back to his best.

Pride Of America returns following a wind operation and Amy Murphy will be hoping he can build on his Newcastle effort earlier this month to win here.

Auld Toon Loon (Tom Dascombe), Fantasy Believer (Ed Walker) and Lia Rose (Rae Guest) complete the line-up.

1.14 Lingfield – Revitalised Kylian headlines field of eight

Kylian can be a tricky horse to get right, but it looks like Archie Watson has found the key to him with the application of blinkers. He ran a fine second behind a consistent type in Equilateral and the Extra Winnings With BetUK Acca Club Handicap (1.14) looks a good race to get his head back in front.

Richard Hughes’ The Thames Boatman could only manage seventh place at Wolves last time but is unbeaten at his beloved Lingfield and it would be no surprise to see him bounce back and maintain that record.

Bedford Flyer is another that could run a big race having bounced back to form at Southwell last time. He is a multiple course winner and his mark of 92 might not stop him having previously won off 94.

Existent has been an expensive horse to follow recently but has been knocking on the door and is now 14lbs below his last winning mark, albeit that did come back in February 2022.

2.14 Lingfield – Monsieur Beaulieu & Zandita contest trappy handicap

The Win £1M With BetMGM’s Golden Goals Handicap (2.14) looks competitive with several that hold a good chance of landing this prize.

The preference is with Monsieur Beaulieu who stayed on strongly to finish second at Southwell. It is interesting that Ross Coakley takes over having won impressively on him over course and distance at the start of the month and this six-year-old is likely to progress further.

The lightly raced Zandita is a big danger having won on debut here and backed that up with a nice second at Wolverhampton following a 355-day lay-off.

Stuart Williams’ Revolutionise was last seen finishing a solid second in a competitive contest at Wolverhampton at and takes a drop in grade off an unchanged mark for Marco Ghiani who gets on well with him.

Watch every race from Lingfield and Uttoxeter all live on Sky Sports Racing on Tuesday, December 31.
